LAUREN SIMPSON | SHE/HER/HERS | Omaha, NE
Lauren Simpson is an Omaha-based choreographer and Director of Lauren Simpson Dance. In Summer 2020, she started an experimental, live, outdoor performance project, Moving Truck. She is currently an artist in residence at ODC Theater in San Francisco through 2021 and she was recently awarded the 2020 Drew Billings Artist Support Grant from Amplify Arts in Omaha. Lauren has held residencies at CounterPulse Theater, Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, and the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company through its CHIME Program. She has danced for choreographers Liz Lerman and Risa Jaroslow. Lauren taught dance at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and was on teaching faculty at Harvard College and University of San Francisco. She received her M.F.A. at University of Colorado-Boulder, Ed.M. at Harvard University, and B.A. at Carleton College.
Lauren Simpson was commissioned by tbd. dance collective to set a choreographic work on members of tbd. dance collective - Lauren Wichert + Allyson Pfortmiller. The duet, Untitled, was performed live at OutrSpaces.
